Trucks

Trucks refers to vehicles with rigid frames that are exclusively or mainly for the transport of goods. The belong to the commercial category. The colloquial truck is a famous kind of Truck. A Truck generally consist of supporting chassis, usually a ladder frame, a suitable drive, a driver's cab and one load specific structure to carry the load. Trucks could be categorised as light, medium and heavy trucks. Usually cars don’t come under Trucks but depending on the authorization cars are sometimes called as a truck. These small trucks and vans are available as station wagons, vans, van, raised roof van and drop side/ Pick Up Truck. There are special truck accessories available for these Trucks. Some Trucks are designed for specific conditions and are approved for road specialty such as heavy transport vehicles, dump trucks and large mobile cranes.

Vehicles are designed to bear the heavy weight and (optionally as articulated) in addition to tow trailers or  built as a semi-trailer (in Austria: Tractor vehicle). Lorries sometimes feature a trailer thus getting the name Tractor. The distinguishing feature from tractors is the design to tow a conventional trailer. The latter had importance until the 1960s but today are rarely found.
