Oil pump

The oil pump is an important part of a vehicle as it is responsible for circulation of the oil to different engine parts. The oil pump is used to pressurize the oil and circulate them in to different parts of the engine. In order to have a proper functioning of various engine parts oil is important. It acts as a lubricant and brings down the friction and thus makes the vehicle to have a smooth and swift movement. There are various kinds of oil pumps, few types are gear type, eccentric and plunger type. The oil pump usually sucks the oil from the oil pan and pumps it to the oil filter before it goes to the bearings. Usually the oil rotates in a closed path from where it is pressurized and thus it is made to serve various parts of the engine. If there is a failure in oil pump it would lead to serious damage to the engine parts. Now a days vehicle are designed in such a way that when there is a failure in oil pump there is a indicator which glows indicating the pump failure and the engine comes to a halt automatically to prevent further damages. The damage if not taken care might lead to seizing of the engine.
