The BHP stands for brake horse power. It is generally termed as the measure of engines capacity excluding the losses. The bhp is measure of engines horse power neglecting the losses caused by generators, gear box, steering pumps, and mufflers. The capacity of each vehicle is determined on its bhp value. Greater the bhp the engine has sufficient power to carry the load to a greater time without any loss. The brake horse power values don’t include the losses caused by different vehicle parts. The break horse power is the measure of engines power at the output shaft. To understand the capability of a vehicle the user must be able to analyze the brake horse power of the vehicle. Also by properly measuring the brake horse power, manufacturers can design the vehicles such that it meets the safety needs. Having a vehicle with a greater bhp indicates us that the vehicle has a greater acceleration and can reach greater speeds. Brake horse power of a vehicle signifies its ability to pull the load. Thus brake horse power is the measure of the engines capacity which signifies the ability of the engine to overcome the resistance offered by various external forces and take the vehicle to its maximum speed.
